Set Word to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode: Search Word in Windows, right-click it to select Open File Location, right-click Word, select Properties, under Compatibility tab, select Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7.

Then open documents from File > Open to check if there is any error.

Run as Administrator to open Word app: search Word app in Windows, right-click it and select Run as Administrator to start it.

Update Windows 10 to the latest version.To check the Office version, open Word 2016, go to File > Account > About Word. Please check if the Office 2016 version is same on Windows 10 and Windows 7.I notice that the issue only happens to 5 users who are using Windfor Office 2016. That is the message I kept getting when I tried to open a distribution list under one of my public folders in Outlook.Д¬learly the client (Outlook 2003), and the server (Exchange 2003) had plenty of memory, lots of drive space.
